Call for Contributions - Demonstrations Track

The Demonstrations Track of ICDE 2027 invites innovative and highly interactive demonstrations on data engineering research. We welcome demo proposals across all areas of data and knowledge engineering, including but not limited to, database systems, data management, data processing techniques, and data-intensive applications. We also encourage submissions from related areas such as DB + X, where X may include ML/AI, healthcare, education, visualization, systems, privacy, etc.

All demonstration submissions must:

  • Provide the motivation of the demonstrated concept(s).
  • Describe the system design, architecture, and core techniques.
  • Explain the highlighted features and demonstration scenarios.
  • Justify the novelty and significance of the contribution of the work.

Demonstration Track Highlights

Video Submission

We strongly encourage the submission of a demonstration video (up to 5 minutes, with a maximum file size of 50MB). The purpose of the video is to give an impression of what will be demonstrated. Both the demonstration proposal and the video will be accessible to the reviewers, and both will be used to rate the submission. The video may summarize the demonstration and audio-visually highlight its key aspects, such as the user interface, interaction options, and system setup. The video should be submitted in MPEG, AVI, or MP4 format and be playable on standard media players. Please note that you will need to first finish your demo proposal submission and then edit it to add the video as a supplementary file.

Important Dates

All deadlines are 11:59 pm Anywhere on Earth (AoE).

  • Demo submission due: November 23, 2026
  • Notification of acceptance: Februrary 10, 2027
  • Camera-ready due: March 10, 2027

Selection Criteria

Demonstration proposals will be selected based on several criteria, including (i) relevance, (ii) novelty, (iii) depth, (iv) and the “wow” factor of the proposed demonstration. The proposal must clearly describe the functionality that will be demonstrated, and how the audience will be able to interact with the proposed system. Reviewers will be encouraged to take the video submissions into account when rating a demonstration proposal.

Submission

Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the IEEE format available at https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates

Demo papers are limited to 4 pages including references and must be submitted in PDF format. Submissions must be written in English and must be original work not published or under review elsewhere. Please upload your submission to the ICDE 2027 Demo Track through the CMT submission site prior to the deadline: (https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/ICDEDEMO2027/Submission/Index)

The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.
