Call for Workshops

ICDE 2027, which will be held in Copenhagen May 17-21, 2027, is soliciting proposals for workshops to be co-located with the conference. Both half-day and full-day workshops are possible.

Proposal Guidelines

A workshop proposal should focus on a specific research area within the field of data management. Any topic that touches any aspect of data management is welcome. We are particularly interested in topics that have not become mainstream, and therefore may not find a receptive home at the main conference.

A workshop proposal can be up to 4 pages long and should contain all pertinent information, including:

1. Main Content

  • Workshop title
  • A short (150-200 words) abstract of the topic and format of the workshop
  • A detailed explanation of why the proposed workshop is appropriate for ICDE 2027
  • Name, affiliation, contact information and a short bio (including previous experience in organizing workshops or conferences) of the workshop organizers
  • Special considerations regarding proceedings (if any)

2. Organization

  • Tentative schedule including paper submission deadline, notification deadline, etc. The camera-ready deadline must be on or before March, 2027 (to be confirmed with Proceedings Chairs).
  • Expected number of participants
  • In case of previous instances of the workshop:
    • i) The historical numbers of participants,
    • ii) The historical submission and acceptance counts.
  • Preferred workshop duration (half day or full day)
  • A description of the submission review process, including how conflicts of interest will be handled.
  • Rationale about recruiting the PC of the workshop, for example, diversity considerations (academia/industry, geography, gender, seniority, etc). These criteria should also be taken into account for the choice of the PC Chairs of each workshop.
  • Tentative list of PC members.
  • Potential (or accepted) invited talks, keynotes, tutorials, or panels.
  • Publicity and sponsorship plans.

Submission Guidelines

Workshop proposals should be submitted directly to the workshop chairs at icde2027workshops@gmail.com. Submissions should be at most 4 (four) pages long and in the same format as conference research papers. Clarity, completeness, and brevity are important aspects of a successful proposal. Publications

The proceedings of the workshops will be published jointly alongside with the conference proceedings. All papers should have the same format as conference research papers.

Important Dates

All deadlines are Anywhere on Earth (AoE).

  • Workshop proposal submission: October 15, 2026
  • Notification of acceptance: November 1, 2026
  • Camera ready deadline for Workshop Papers: On or before March 10, 2027 (to be confirmed with Proceedings Chairs)
  • Workshops: May 16 or May 17, 2027

Organization Details

The ICDE 2027 organization provides:

  • A link on the ICDE 2027 site to the actual workshop web page.
  • Management of registration for participants.
  • Setup of meeting space and related equipment.
  • Coffee-breaks arrangements.

The main responsibility of organizing a workshop goes to the chairs of the workshop. They must take care of the following tasks:

  • Set up and host a workshop web page (should be up within three weeks of notification).
  • Prepare and issue the call for papers, and manage the whole submission and review process.
  • Coordinate paper deadlines and acceptance notifications with the ICDE 2027 Workshop Chairs.
  • Provide input for publicity to the local organizers of ICDE 2027.
  • Provide a brief workshop description to include on the ICDE 2027 web page.
  • Coordinate with the ICDE 2027 proceedings editors to collect: (a) camera-ready copies of the papers, and (b) signed copyright forms.
  • Schedule workshop activities in collaboration with the ICDE 2027 local organizers to adhere to a timetable that facilitates catering.
  • Inform the Workshop Chairs of the numbers of submissions and acceptances as these numbers become available.
  • Note that workshops with fewer than 15 expected registrants may be canceled at the discretion of the conference organizers. Only accepted workshops are official ICDE workshops and enjoy the support mentioned above.
